Recruitment Division E-mail: membership@whvfc.org
WHVFC is constantly in search of
new members. The good news is that
NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE IS
NEEDED! The Department will provide all of the training
and
equipment necessary at no expense to you. You only need
to provide the desire
and
commitment.
WHVFC is currently
recruiting for three classes of volunteer membership:
• Firefighters • Fire Police • Junior Fire Firefighters
Firefighters participate directly in emergency response activities as well as company
sponsored functions. These individuals server on the front line of fire, ems rescue
and other emergency situations.
Individuals interested in this class of membership
must
complete the Department's application process, a physical examination,
and a range of firefighting training courses, including:
• WHVFC in-house recruit training
program
• WHVFC recruit probationary period
coursework
• NFPA hazardous materials operations
course
• NFPA firefighter 1
course
After completing this coursework, a recruit
firefighter earns the title of Certified
firefighter
The opportunities for training and advancing your skills,
however,
do not end there. WHVFC maintains the highest
standards for continuous training and
professional
certification. WHVFC both conducts additional in-house training
and
coordinates with the County's fire and rescue system to
provide advanced training
for the operational
staff.
While operational membership requires a greater
commitment of time than associate
membership, it also
provides a unique opportunity to learn and apply a wide range
of
emergency service skills. Admittedly, this class of
membership is not for everyone.
Firefighting is both
potentially dangerous and hard work. You will sweat. Those
who
do rise to the challenge, however, learn that they gain
at least as much as they
contribute. Whether it is
attaining professional certification, personal achievement,
or
helping citizens during the darkest hours, our
operational members find that serving
as a volunteer
firefighter with WHVFC is one of the most rewarding aspects
of
their lives.
Fire Police members
perform a wide range of support roles
and
activities. These members participate directly
in emergency response
activities by providing traffic control and scene security. Individuals
interested
in this class of membership must complete the Department's
application
process and then complete the required training.
To learn more, please contact the station. An application

We look forward to
hearing from you and helping you achieve your
goals.
